Yeaaahhh... nope.
Armistice Day, as it was originally known, is a time to honour the peace that war brought. Not a time for militaristic glorification.
Armistice is, via the French, from Latin arma- "arms, weapons", and modeled on solstitium , -stitium , "coming to a standstill". It means, quite literally, the stilling of arms. (English used to anglicise solstice as sunstead , and a parallel anglicism of armistice might be weaponstead .)
Needless to say, I love it.

Not everybody was an enlisted grunt. So officers and your career enlisted. Plenty.

I guess it doesn't hurt that I live near NAS Pensacola, but quite a few actually. But those are officers or retired military that are contractors now.

Veteran, from French vétéran . Keep coming up with military terms easily traced to French military superiority throughout most of the second millennium.

Honor veterans with a car they will never be able to afford. Makes sense. I guess.

It's an $80k car. I make $300k and can't justify spending that money.

I've been on a Military base, and I actually saw some guy driving a fucking Viper.
Then there was a modified 280Z, a few (new) Charger Super Bees, a Focus ST and a Fiesta ST. Yeah, military guys get the good cars. Well, the Army does. Been to an AFB somewhere in Texas, and yeah, they didn't have the same quality cars. But I think I saw either an F-22 or an F-35 fly overhead (yeah, I know, not likely, but I really think I did, that wing layout can't be confused with anything else...)

Most of the folks who went to West point/Annapolis once they retire have quite lucrative lives beyond the uniform. On the enlisted side I know some folks that make big money for in demand jobs (most 15 mos (aviation) and some the commo/signit/IT stuff) Not everyone is a 11B grunt.
